Requirement to convert a Asterisk ulaw or alaw audio file to wav for import into another system

We needed to convert a ulaw to wav on a Asterisk platform. After trying a number of online conversion platform, we found the best was Audacity.

Downloaded Audacity (link above) click file -> import -> Raw

A import dialog will be shown, use the following values and click Import.

If all goes well, you should be able to see the waveform and click play to make sure it sounds correct

Next click File -> Export to save as a wave file
